Cause for arrest against the niece of the Secretary of Justice by Law 54

Judge Rafael Parés Quiñones of the Court of First Instance of Bayamón, found this Tuesday cause for the arrest of Gabriela Rivera Emanuelli, niece of the Secretary of Justice, Domingo Emanuelli, for an alleged case of Law 54.

The Secretary of Justice filed a notice of restraint with the Office of Government Ethics as soon as he was informed of the case.

“It is important to the integrity of the case and the credibility of the Department that any appearance of favoritism be avoided.”commented the head of the prosecutors, Jessika Correa González, about the inhibition of Emanuelli.

“The case will be investigated and prosecuted like any other”he added.

The complaint was investigated by the Police Bureau, alleging that the victim was assaulted by the woman, who also used profanity and humiliating comments.

Rivera Emanuelli was placed on $5,000 bail. Meanwhile, the preliminary hearing was scheduled for July 6.
