The Tab Extreme really deserves its name. The Android tablet that Lenovo presented at CES is a behemoth with a 14.5-inch display. On the go, it not only serves as an entertainer and notebook replacement, but also – connected to a Windows PC via USB-C – as a mobile second monitor. Lenovo plans to launch the 1299 euro device in June.

The showpiece of the high-end tablet, the 14.5-inch OLED screen, displays 3000 × 1876 pixels (244 dpi) in 16:10 format. According to Lenovo, the panel covers the DCI-P3 color space and achieves a maximum brightness of 500 cd/m². The 14.5-inch display of the competitor Tab S8 Ultra from Samsung has a maximum brightness of 700 cd/m². Like this, the Tab Extreme has a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hertz. The selfie cam is on the upper edge when the tablet is held in landscape format becomes, useful for video calls.

The second highlight of the Tab Extreme is the custom-made, two-part sleeve, which Lenovo sells separately. As a whole, this serves as a transport protection and keyboard. There is also space for the pen. When opened, the case holds the tablet in a floating position, similar to Apple’s Magic Keyboard. So you can work on the tablet like with a laptop on your lap. This configuration weighs around 1.5 kilos, the tablet alone weighs 740 grams.

A small kickstand can also be removed from the case, which attaches magnetically to the back of the tablet and stands it up vertically or horizontally on the table. Instead of the keyboard case, Lenovo ships the tablet with a simpler folio case complete with a stylus. Lenovo has not yet given any information on the price of the keyboard cover.

The tablet is powered by a MediaTek chip, the Dimensity 9000, and 12 GB of RAM. The eight-core consists of a fast ARM Cortex-X2 ultra-core (3 GHz), three A710 cores (2.85 GHz) and four energy-saving cores (A510, up to 1.8 GHz). The 256 GB internal memory can be expanded by a maximum of 1 TB. There is also space for a nanoSIM card in the slot. The 12,300 mAh battery should allow up to 12 hours of video playback in a continuous loop.

Lenovo delivers the Tab Extreme with Android 13 and promises to deliver upgrades to versions 14, 15 and 16 and four years of security patches from market launch, i.e. until summer 2027.
