The archbishop who married Harry and Meghan is responsible, according to the British press, to mediate with the couple, and to convince him to come to the coronation of Charles next May.

The Archbishop of Canterbury has a difficult mission. The one who married Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018, is now responsible for convincing the dissident couple to come and attend the coronation of King Charles next May. According to the British press, whose Timesit is the king himself who would have instructed Archbishop Justin Welby, in charge of the coronation ceremony, to play the mediator with his son.

The king is not only moved by paternal love. Above all, he believes that the absence of Meghan and Harry would make more talk than their presence.

The coronation of Charles III will take place on May 6 in London, almost 70 years after that of his mother Queen Elizabeth in June 1953. On this occasion, the British will be entitled to three days of festivities. The program, unveiled a few days ago, provides in particular, on the sidelines of the coronation, a concert, a big lunch bringing together thousands of Britons. These celebrations recall those of the Queen’s Jubilee last June.

The British press also understands that the king would give an interview to the BBC to discuss his reign, but also to speak, for the first time, of his relationship with his youngest son. Neither Charles nor William have so far reacted to Harry’s allegations.

Stripped of their titles

Since Meghan and Harry left for California in 2020, relations with the royal family have only soured. The couple’s various revelations and accusations on American television, in their interview with Oprah Winfrey, then in their documentary series on Netflix, and finally in Harry’s memoirs, published on January 10, only fueled the mutual hostility.

Harry, who goes very far in confidences, thus describes in his book a violent argument with his brother William, who would have thrown him to the ground. He claims, however, that he did not want to hurt his family with this book.

“I love my father, I love my brother, I love my family and I will always love them. Nothing I wrote in this book was done with the intention of hurting or harming them. harm,” however, the prince said in a TV interview as part of the ‘Alternate’ promotion.

Prince Harry’s book ended up turning public opinion against Meghan and Harry. On January 20, 43% of Britons believed in a poll that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should not be invited to Charles’ coronation. And 55% even wanted them to be stripped of their titles.
