Juarez City.- Vivienne Westwood, fashion designer and British style icon, died at the age of 81, peacefully at her home in London on Thursday, the reason for her death is unknown so far.

“Vivienne Westwood died today, peacefully and surrounded by her family, in Clapham, south London,” says the message shared on her company’s Twitter account.

Westwood was an important part of the British punk movement in the 1970s and helped shape the scene with his clothing, even outfitting the London band the Sex Pistols.

Among her signature looks were ripped T-shirts, bondage, checkered patterns, mohair, rubber, provocative imagery, and androgynous designs.

Vivienne was in charge of directing punk fashion to take it to a mainstream, which is still valid today.
