A security screener at Boston Logan International Airport discovered an unusual hiding place in a piece of luggage earlier this week.

It writes Fox 11.

Gift from colleague

The inspector found a candle in the traveller’s luggage, but noticed that something was a little strange about the light.

When it was investigated more closely, they found marijuana hidden in the candle, which a 53-year-old man allegedly tried to smuggle with him.

When the man was confronted with the find, he claimed it was a gift he had received.

– The 53-year-old man claimed the light was a “Secret Santa” gift from a colleague, writes spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) New England, Dan Velez, on Twitter.

The police were then contacted for further inspection of the light.

Illegal through security control

In Boston, Massachusetts, recreational marijuana use is legal for adults 21 and older.

Marijuana is still illegal under federal law, and therefore cannot be transported through security.

Only products that are approved by the US Food and Drug Administration, or contain 0.3 percent or less THC on a dry weight basis are approved.

THC stands for Tetrahydrocannabinol, which is the active ingredient in marijuana.

On the TSA website it is stated that the main focus is to find potential threats to aviation and passengers, but if they discover illegal substances they will contact the police.
