On Wednesday, the group became active again in Essen: at 10 a.m., two activists daubed large areas of the main building of the RWE headquarters on Altenessener Strasse with orange paint. They use modified fire extinguishers for this.

The activists, a sociology student from Bottrop and a philosophy professor from Cologne, explain that their action is “revenge for Lützerath”. The Essen-based energy company RWE has been criticized for the fact that the village of Lüzerath on the edge of the Garzweiler opencast lignite mine was demolished for lignite mining. After the action, the security service called the police, who arrived a few minutes later with four cars. The officers secured the fire extinguishers.
At the time, the two members of the “Last Generation” were standing in front of the building with a banner that read: “Art. 20A GG = protect life”. Already on December 10, activists of the “Last Generation” carried out a color attack in the same place. At that time, a criminal complaint was filed against a 20-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man for violating the right of assembly: The police said the reason for this was because the action had “the character of a political opinion rally”.
