Police operation in Hohenems

In the night of Wednesday there was a police operation in Hohenems on Walther-von-der-Vogelweide-Straße.

A 58-year-old man informed two acquaintances via WhatsApp that he was going to kill himself with a gun and that he might be shot by the police. Several police patrols drove to the scene and contacted the man. The 58-year-old was persuaded by a police negotiating team to open the apartment door. Officials from the “Cobra” task force secured the operation.

Since the man appeared obviously confused and complained of severe pain, he was taken to a doctor. The weapon, a CO2 weapon, was secured. No one was injured during the official act.
