Coco Gauff maintains her overwhelming pace in Australia

MELBOURNE-. Coco Gauff defeated Marta Kostyuk 7-6 (6), 6-7 (3), 6-2 in a match full of errors in the Australian Open on Tuesday, to claim their ticket in the semifinals.

Fourth seed Gauff saved two set points as she overcame a 5-1 deficit to take the first set in a tiebreaker, but was forced into a decider before securing her victory after a three-hour, eight-minute duel.

Gauff committed 51 unforced errors, nine double faults and only had 17 winners, but survived to advance to the semifinals, where she will face defending champion Aryna Sabalenka or No. 9 Barbora Krejcikova.

The American now has 12 consecutive Grand Slam match wins after winning the US Open in September last year.

Men’s favorite No. 1 Novak Djokovic enters action later, facing Taylor Fritz for a spot in the semifinals.
