Mexico City.- After months and a demand for indirect amparo, the inhabitants of Xochimilco managed to definitively stop the construction of a National Guard barracks in part of the Nezahualcóyotl Nursery.

“Inhabitants of towns, neighborhoods and neighborhoods of the Xochimilco Mayor’s Office, accompanied by the Prodh Center, filed an indirect amparo claim, a federal judge granted the final suspension against a decree of a divestiture of a fraction of land from the Nezahualcóyotl Nursery” , explained the Miguel Agustín Rights Center (Prodh) on Tuesday morning.

On December 9, through the Official Gazette of Mexico City, it was reported that a space of several thousand square meters would be granted to the National Guard.

Inhabitants of the original towns and colonies of Xochimilco disapproved of this decision of the capital’s government, since said space is used for the conservation of flora and fauna, in addition to being a water supply for the town and the rest of the City, for which December 30 they filed an amparo.
