Stadtwerke Bochum are laying a new water pipe in the Weitmar Castle Park. The construction work is taking place on the meadows and will start soon.
On January 16th they start Stadtwerke Bochum a construction project in Castle Park Weitmar. They lay a new one there water pipe. The civil engineering work is taking place on the meadows now that the nature conservation advisory board has approved the construction work. The water transport pipeline has a diameter of 60 centimeters and a length of 540 meters.
New water pipe: Stadtwerke Bochum are digging in the castle park
It is pressed under the Springorum route around spring. The bike path and footpath can still be used. Then the connecting piece of the line between the cycle path and Hattinger Straße is laid. According to the municipal works, there are restrictions on access from the castle park to the cycle path. The line runs between Hattinger Straße and Nevelstraße through the palace gardens.
The districts of Wattenscheid, Linden and Dahlhausen are supplied with drinking water through the water pipe, which is why the construction measures are necessary from the point of view of the public utility company. In order to protect the trees, the municipal utilities do not want to use the old route, but choose a new one. “This will run along the old Schlossstraße, under the Springorum cycle path and on the paths and meadows of the castle park,” says the municipal utility.
Schlosspark Weitmar: Parking is limited due to the construction site
The construction measures and necessary interventions for the relocation had previously been checked by nature and species protection and were also overseen by ecological construction supervision in the further course of the process. According to Stadtwerke, compensatory measures have been coordinated with the city of Bochum. Since storage areas would have to be set up on parts of Nevelstraße, there would be fewer parking spaces during the construction work, according to the municipal utility.
The work is expected to be completed by this summer.
