The Supreme Court of Algiers delivered its verdict in the most serious file that the Algerian justice has dealt with since 2019. The defendants, in a trial of seven consecutive days, categorically denied the charges and facts attributed to them.

The businessman also said that his passport and residence card had been confiscated by the investigating judge of the court of Bir Mourad Raisthus preventing his defense team from proving that he had resided in Britain from 2008 to 2015.

Heddad had studied business administration and invested his money in the UK. The accused disputed the assertions of the investigating judge and the judge of the court of Sidi M’hamed, asserting that he had resided in Algeria during this period.

Another person, also accused in this case, also spoke to the judge. It is Mahieddine Tahkoutwho was in prison at Babar in Khenchela.

Before the judge, he denied the charges against him and mentioned the fact that four letters of judicial power of attorney received from abroad were unsuccessful. Tahkout also recalled that his television channel, Numidia TVhad been seized without legal action, as well as its pharmaceutical factory confiscated by the “Saidal” complex and all its property.

He pleaded innocent saying he had amassed his fortune through his own work and said all the facts had already been judged and the public treasury had been compensated. Tahkout called these seizures and confiscations unjust.
