A family dispute escalates at Hamborner Altmarkt. The victim suffers a stab wound and the alleged perpetrator is caught. What the police know.

A family dispute escalated at Hamborner Altmarkt and ended with a stab wound and a police operation. The Duisburg police confirmed this on request. Accordingly, the victim was sitting in his parked car around 12 noon on Wednesday when the perpetrator opened the car door and attacked the driver with a sharp object, injuring him.

According to the police control center, this shoulder injury is not life-threatening, and the public prosecutor’s office rates the attack as a bodily harm offence. The police report does not show whether the weapon was actually a knife, so it could have been a pair of household scissors or a knitting needle, for example. Apparently there is a family background.

The control center also emphasizes that this attack has a “significantly lower potential for aggression” and “less criminal energy” than the deadly knife attacks in the John Reed gym or in the old town on Easter Monday.

The authority wants to provide more information about the case and the results of the investigation on Thursday morning.
