Vice President Cristina Kirchner kept her own agenda, but limited because she could not count on a reunion with Lula da Silva, given the numerous activities that the Brazilian president had scheduled in Buenos Aires. For now, she received in the Senate the president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, who arrived to participate in the meeting of Celac leaders. Today she could receive the Colombian Gustavo Petro.
Before the meeting with Xiomara, Cristina released a video through social networks in which she mentions what happened in 2009 when the flag of that Central American country was changed. She described with particular emphasis the role of Argentina in the face of the coup d’état. “When they overthrew Manuel Zelaya, who is the husband of Xiomara Castro, this was the original flag. They not only overthrew him, but they changed the flag and put up a bluer, darker flag,” she explained.
In this context, he pointed out that “Xiomara’s first act when she took office as president – she was there – was obviously to restore the original flag of Honduras.”
