”A Marvel game you’ll be able to play for years to come.” So it sounded before the launch of Marvel’s Avengers which now, a little more than two years later, stands as a monumental flop. Critics gave the game a lukewarm reception, and players derided everything from the character design to the monotonous gameplay. Only a proper expansion has been released but even that could not motivate players to continue making life miserable for AIM Now Crystal Dynamics announces that they will stop working on the game and that Marvel’s Avengers will soon go to the grave.

In November, update 2.7 was released which added the Winter Soldier as a playable character as well as the Cloning Lab Omega-Level Threat. However, this will be the last content released for the game and the final update to balance the game will be released in March. Only in September does the game studio officially stop addressing issues that may arise. After that, it will still be possible to play the game alone or online, but don’t expect any new content. All costumes, nameplates, emotes and the like will also be free starting in March.

Now it’s almost the end of all the “fun”…
