kyiv, 28 Apr. Six people have died this morning in the city of Uman, in central Ukraine, and another two have lost their lives in Dnipro (east) in a massive attack with Russian missiles that has reached civilian areas, the Ukrainian authorities reported this Friday.

According to the military authority of the Cherkasy province, in which Uman is located, six people have died in this city as a result of the attack, which has hit a dozen buildings and completely destroyed another block of flats.

Nine other people are hospitalized and rescue efforts continue among the rubble.

In Dnipro, the city’s mayor Boris Filatov reported the death of a woman and her three-year-old son as a result of the Russian attack. The Ukrainian capital, kyiv, was also hit by several missiles with no victims known for the moment.

“A young woman and a three-year-old child have been killed,” Mayor Filatov wrote on his Facebook account. The military administration in charge of the city of Dnipro has given more details about the attack.

“A private house has been destroyed in Dnipro,” the military authority writes on its official Instagram channel. According to this source, the victims are a 31-year-old woman and a 2-year-old baby. Three people were injured.

The head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Andriy Yermak, wrote about the attack on Uman: “The missile attack was launched while civilians were sleeping. Typical of Russian terrorists.”

Yermak reported that Ukrainian air defenses have shot down 21 of the 23 missiles Russia launched last night, and called for sanctions on “countries that help Russia” circumvent sanctions to “buy Western chips to produce missiles” with those who attack Ukraine. EFE
