Ikke Hipgold criticizes the ESC preliminary decision, in which he recently unsuccessfully took part. The entertainer accuses the organizers of manipulation.

Cologne – Schlager star Ikke Hipgold (46) raises serious allegations against the Eurovision Song Contest: the musician claims in the podcast “33 minutes” that the preliminary decision was manipulated and therefore not him, but the band Lord of the Lost Germany in a few weeks is represented in Liverpool.

“Decisions made out of fear”: Ikke Hipgold suspects manipulation in the ESC preliminary decision

Hip gold, who took second place with his “Song with good text”, is outraged by the outcome of the pre-competition: “The ESC does not keep up with the times and the NDR only makes its decisions out of fear. It was a catastrophic ESC preliminary decision and I think it was manipulated.”

He also knows exactly why no commercially successful musicians want to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest in this country: they lack the “courage to give up their voice”. They would simply be “ashamed to take part in the ESC”.

“Lord of the Lost” go to the ESC in Liverpool

The grand finale of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest “United by Music” will take place on May 13th at the Liverpool Arena. The band Lord of the Lost was able to beat Ikke Hipgold (111 total points) and Will Church (111 total points) with a total of 189 points in the preliminary round in Germany with their glam rock number “Blood & Glitter”. Although Will Church turned out to be the darling of the international jury with 90 points, the boys from Hamburg-St.Pauli were particularly convincing among the televoters. 146 points from the audience catapulted the dark rock band to victory at the end of the vote.
