Demonstrations continue in Columbia

Hundreds of people gathered at Columbia University on Sunday to continue their day of protests.

The demonstrations began last week, when dozens of students gathered on the front lawn to show solidarity with the Palestinian people during the war being fought in the Middle East between Israel and Hamas.

The protests are now in their fifth day.

On Thursday, the institution contacted the NYPD and officers were deployed to clear the tent encampment, resulting in the arrest of dozens of people.

On Sunday, students continued to protest, and a rabbi associated with the Columbia Orthodox Union advised Jewish students to stay home.
