Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley was taken to hospital on Friday. According to his wife, he has pneumonia.

Concern for singer Deryck Whibley, 43: The frontman of the former punk rock band Sum 41 was taken to hospital on Friday. His wife Ariana Cooper did shared on Instagram. Accordingly, the musician is suffering from pneumonia.

“Deryck and I were supposed to be in Chicago celebrating our eighth wedding anniversary, but the universe had another plan for us,” she begins her post. She also shared two photos: In one she is holding her husband’s hand, and a hospital bracelet and an entrance can be seen on his arm. A second picture shows Whibley sitting on a stretcher and being lifted into an ambulance by two assistants.

The couple spent the whole night in the emergency room “and we will now spend the next few days here in the hospital,” she continues. The pneumonia put Whibley’s heart under “severe strain” and the couple were told “that there was a possibility of heart failure.”

Not the first time Deryck Whibley has been in the hospital

This is not the first time that they have found themselves in such a situation, the model continues, probably reminiscent of Whibley’s hospitalization in 2014. At that time, he was admitted for alcohol poisoning after Ariana Cooper found him and called the emergency doctor. In the hospital, his liver and kidneys began to fail and the doctors put him in an artificial coma.

After the singer recovered, the two married in August 2015. Together they have son Lydon Idby, 3, and daughter Quentin Arlo (6 months).

Seeing her husband in the hospital bed again with cables and infusions is difficult for her. But the model is optimistic: “I know how strong he is because I’ve seen what he’s been able to overcome.” She wants to get back to us with new information in the coming days.

Deryck Whibley, also known as Bizzy D, is the frontman of the punk rock band Sum 41, which was formed in 1996.
