It looks like Sony PlayStation has acquired a new studio, ballistic moon, a company founded in 2019 in the South East of England by some industry veterans. The official nature is still missing, but the evidence is manifold.

The first evidence of a collaboration between Sony and Ballistic Moon dates back to last summer, when a reference to a certain Project Bates, a AAA game under development under the PlayStation label. Fast forward to last week when, in a job posting addressed to a Senior Dialogue Designer, Sony has added Ballistic Moon to its list of partner studiosalongside well-known and consolidated realities such as Santa Monica, Naughty Dog, Insomniac Games, Sucker Punch, Media Molecule and Guerrilla.

Sony has never announced the acquisition of Ballistic Moon, nor has it ever confirmed that it has commissioned Project Bates, however in these hours another damning proof of the marriage has emerged. PitchBook.com, a financial portal that collects and shares data on companies around the world, clearly writes that Ballistic Moon was acquired by Sonyrecalling that the company was founded in 2019 and that it currently has 47 employees. While waiting for a release from Sony able to definitively shed light on the state of the development studio and on the project in the pipeline, we remind you that the founders of Ballistic Moon are Neil McEwan, Chris Lamb, and Duncan Kershaw, three veterans who have contributed previously making games such as House of the Dead Overkill, Syndicate, Until Dawn, Until Dawn Rush of Blood, Heavy Rain and Sleeping Dogs.
