CDMX.- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador asked Felipe Calderón to inform the people of Mexico if he knew of Genaro García Luna’s ties to drug trafficking and suggested that the former Secretary, already convicted, become a witness.

During the morning, the federal President indicated that it would be good for García Luna to say if he received orders from former Presidents Vicente Fox and Felipe Calderón.

“Here the substance of the matter, what is omitted, is what is the explanation that you are going to give to the people of Mexico about why you named García Luna and if you knew or did not know and that is what we want information about, that is the explanation we are waiting for, first,” said López Obrador.

“Then there is still the possibility that García Luna declares himself as a witness and I would say as President of Mexico, for the good of the country, that he hopefully does so in exchange for reporting on whether he received orders or informed former Presidents, both Fox like Calderón, Fox when he was at AFI and Calderón when he was Secretary of Security”.

AMLO included the United States authorities in his petition.

“And another very important thing that is good for Mexico and for the United States, what were your links with the United States authorities? It cannot be that they did not know either because ‘Fast and Furious’ was a concerted action and that he is not there either,” he launched.

“It is likely that if you can contribute by providing information that helps to continue fighting drug trafficking and above all the criminal association between authorities and criminals, it would be very good, regardless of the fact that if the years in prison are reduced, imagine what it would help, because this would mean that they would never fall back into this complicity relationship”.
