Always very involved in the world of gaming, Samsung has developed new features for gamers. For example, you can isolate the map of a game to display it on another screen, such as a tablet or a smartphone.

Like LG, Samsung has multiplied announcements ahead of the opening of the doors of CES 2023. And in the television segment, the Korean firm has unveiled more and more new models and, above all, connected features. More particularly, we note the advances of GameBar 3.0, an interface dedicated to gaming which gains new tools in 2023 – as we discover in a press release published on January 4.

Samsung, for example, intends to introduce what it calls Minimap Sharing. Behind this name hides the opportunity to isolate the minimap displayed on a game screen to be able to consult it on a second device (a smartphone, a tablet). This principle is a direct legacy of Nintendo’s Wii U, a console whose controller was a tablet and which could therefore show information in order to liberate television.

Always more cheat codes at Samsung for players

Minimap Sharing is likely to become an interesting little boost for those who prefer to focus on the action when watching their television. Better still, it can help reinforce immersion. Some video games, like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, allow you to remove several elements from the interface to see only the gameplay and not be interfered with by indicators that take up space (which is the case with the minimap). However, losing the minimap can be detrimental to navigation: Minimap Sharing overcomes this point.

Coupled with a zoom feature, Minimap Sharing can also help to see more clearly on specific places in the game. In an era where open world adventures are increasingly numerous and immense, it is a significant assistance . Samsung isn’t afraid to call Minimap Sharing a cheat codes — a term normally attributed to cheat codes.

Note that Minimap Sharing can work automatically thanks to an AI capable of detecting the area to be reproduced on the second screen (thanks to a Wi-Fi Direct wireless connection). But it is also possible to cut the minicard yourself, which promises compatibility with any source connected via HDMI. According to a demo we saw at CES, the cut-out image remains fixed and we imagine a future where it will adapt in real time to movements in the game.

In the other new cheat codes that Samsung intends to integrate into its televisions and monitors, we note the appearance of an aiming aid. Here, the goal is to make the reticle more visible to better see what you are shooting at.
