“Following the working meetings, which took place recently between the mayor of Sector 4, Daniel Băluță, and the representatives of the Ministry of Transport and SC Metrorex SA, a calendar of punctual activities was agreed, at the end of which, precisely, on November 15 at the latest, the “Tudor Arghezi” station should be put into use. Also then, the metro station built by the Sector 4 community will become a multi-modal transport point, being directly connected, through an underground pedestrian tunnel, to the nearby multi-storey car park, where people coming from outside the city can safely leave their cars , to continue their journey to the center of the Capital using the metro”, announced the City Hall of Sector 4.

Hotnews.ro wrote in September why the metro station has not yet been opened:

  • Metrorex says the District 4 City Hall still has some work to do at the station, including securing the 2nd power source. On the other hand, Metrorex still has to hire a good part of the people who will work in the station that extends the M2 by 1.5 km.
  • Representatives of the City Hall say that the work will be completed by the end of September – less the connection to the city sewer because there is no sewer network in the area and a septic tank has been made.
  • With the commissioning of the Tudor Arghezi metro station, the traffic schedule will be implemented which will include 18 trains, compared to 16 trains at present, and the succession interval between trains will be 4 minutes, says Metrorex.
  • According to the information sent by the City Hall of Sector 4 at the request of HotNews.ro, the reception of the metro station was completed on March 29, 2023.

The “Tudor Arghezi” metro station cost 50 million euros (non-refundable funds), being built by the City Hall of Sector 4 in partnership with Metrorex. Practically, the metro was extended between the Berceni station, the current end of Magistrala 2 and the Ring Road, over a distance of 1.6 kilometers. The station is built above ground level and has a height regime of P+2E.

The station platform is on the ground floor, and the administrative areas are distributed over the two floors. At the same time, the Tudor Arghezi station is provided with five pedestrian access areas. One of these is located opposite the metro station and provides the connection with the platform of the new station, through an underground pedestrian passage, with a length of 14 meters, which undercuts Berceni Road.

“Furthermore, the access of travelers to the platform is facilitated by seven escalators, as well as seven elevators that will facilitate the access of people with disabilities. At the same time, along the entire length of the platform, a tactile directional carpet was installed for the visually impaired. Particular importance was given to the safety and protection equipment and measures for passengers, according to the rules specific to metro transport. Thus, in the Tudor Arghezi metro station, a surveillance system was installed, consisting of 70 video cameras, mounted both on the platform, in the two vestibules, and in the five access areas. At the same time, the station is equipped with fire detection centrals, burglar alarms and air treatment systems. Also, for the operation of the hydrants, used in case of fire, the station is connected to two sources of water supply, one from the public network, and the second from its own sources (deep wells)”, transmitted the City Hall of Sector 4 .

In the immediate vicinity of the Tudor Arghezi metro station, the Sector 4 City Hall is also building a park&ride parking lot with 300 spaces, which should be ready by November 15.
