Do you have a car that does not pass the "Smog Check"? You could receive up to $850 to repair it

SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, California – The Valley Air District Board of Trustees approved more than $12 million in additional funding to continue the Tune In Tune Up Vehicle Repair program.

The program helps owners of vehicles that fail the so-called “Smog Check” by providing vouchers of up to $850 for emissions-related repairs, emissions checks and necessary diagnostics.

According to those in charge of the program, the success of the project lies in the attention to low-income residents and the participation of disadvantaged communities.

“Since 2005, tens of thousands of residents of disadvantaged communities have benefited from the advances of this program. Thanks to this program, vehicle emissions in the San Joaquin Valley are decreasing. Tune In Tune Up is a model of balance between efficiency and equity,” according to the San Joaquin Valley Region Report.

The Valley Air District indicated that while weather, geography and topography play a key role in air pollution problems in the Valley, motor vehicles are the largest source of emissions.

Since the Valley Air District does not have regulatory authority over vehicle exhaust emissions, a robust grant and incentive program is one of many strategies to reduce air pollution and protect public health in the San Valley. Joaquín, I assure the organization.

The Valley Air District covers eight counties, including San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, Madera, Fresno, Kings, Tulare, and portions of Kern’s San Joaquin Valley air basin.
