Domestic and child care workers demonstrated Wednesday in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood of Center City, Philadelphia, seeking better wages and benefits.

The event took place in a symbolic area because most of the participants work there.

Together with them were members of the National Alliance of Domestic Workers.

These people assure that they experience labor abuse and wage theft on a daily basis. Many recounted their respective experiences.

They ask for emphasis on local regulations so that their rights are respected, despite the fact that a letter of law and a complaints channel were approved in Philadelphia.

One of the domestic workers stated that after a day of work without rest and food, she received $30 in pay and threats from her employer.

They maintain that the mistreatment is constant and that there is instability of contracts to continue with their work. Basically employers do not want to sign documents committing to the requirements, according to them.
