Don Feliciano is 67 years old and for more than 40 years he has been cleaning and filtering the water that the inhabitants of the Moqueguan province of Mariscal Nieto drink. He is an experienced operator at the Chen Chen Drinking Water Treatment Plant (PTAP), in Moquegua. where drinking water is produced for more than 70 thousand inhabitants.
Chen Chen’s ‘Aquaman’ wears personal protective equipment and in the filtration area of the plant commands respect, without compromising its simplicity. His coworkers recognize him as a mainstay in the process of refloating the utility company, which for seven years has been carried out by the Technical Agency of the Sanitation Services Administration (Otass).

From valves to automation
“Before it was all valves. From moving them so much, I was left with a chronic injury to my right elbow. With modernity, the filtration process is controlled with buttons, but I still have to be very careful to use the automated system correctly”, says Don Feliciano.
The pandemic of covid-19 lor affected and fell prey to the virus, in critical condition, during the first wave. His picture was complicated because he also suffers from pulmonary fibrosis, but he put up a tough battle and, happily, he is one of the warriors who managed to defeat the coronavirus that claimed so many victims.

“I know how important my work is for the health of Moqueguans and I assume it with love and a lot of responsibility. With my colleagues we know that the quality of the water that reaches the houses depends a lot on our work”, highlighted Mr. Feliciano, who a few months ago was recognized by the Otass as an emblematic worker of the EPS Moquegua.
