– As Olaf told me, I have already overachieved!

There is no bitterness to be found in Helene Spilling after she was eliminated from the Master of Masters in the seventh program. The professional dancer surprised both himself and others with a solid fifth place.

– I have progressed on things I perhaps shouldn’t have progressed on, so I was actually quite relaxed before the night test. I felt that I had already won against myself, says Spilling to Good evening Norway.

She was at the bottom after the first theme, and was actually going to be in the first night test when Ezinne Okparaebo withdrew. After that, it only went up for Spilling, and she became the topic winner in “precision”, among other things.

Different heating

Spilling managed to prove that sports dancers have something to do in the competition, but on Friday former kickboxer Andreas Lødrup was too fast.

– He had a full kickboxer warm-up. Stood and jumped rope and got ready for the boxing ring, while I just tried to stay calm. So we had very different warm-ups for that night test, says Spilling.

Furthermore, she says that the duel was even more even than what was seen on TV.

– It was so even that we had to have four rounds, for the first lightsaber we took exactly the same. You obviously couldn’t tell who grabbed hold first. So it was a draw, says Spilling.

Proud

On TV, they have chosen to edit out the round that ended in a draw, and on the screen the first lightsaber is caught by the professional dancer.

– Then I thought: “Yes! I’m not completely hopeless.” I’ve seen Andreas before, he’s lightning quick, she says, and was absolutely right about that.

Lødrup won the next two rounds, and is one of four left in the NRK success.

– I am proud. I gave my best in all the exercises, smiles Spilling.

Spilling had a mental breakdown early in the recording, read more about it here.
