About fifteen French departments are now concerned, Sunday April 9, by water restrictions. Report in the Gard, where the water tables are at very low levels.
Spring is barely beginning, but the first water restrictions are already affecting Bagnols-sur-Cèze (Gard) and its surroundings. Rain has been lacking since January, and the river is at a June level. The drought alert has just been declared, it is forbidden to renew the water in the swimming pools.
Residents adapt
City resident Joss Corsini worries about watering restrictions. She invested in a lawn last year, and planted flowers everywhere. “If we had known, I might have put more stones, gravel“, she says. Another resident has taken a radical decision: he no longer waters his garden at all. It is also forbidden to wash his car, at home or in the resort.
