Following the success of the first season of the Halo series, Paramount+ is now attempting a live-action series adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons.

The streaming service was one of several interested parties and has now secured the TV rights for it. A first season with eight episodes was ordered at the start.

Familiar duo

The series is being produced by Paramount Pictures and eOne, reports deadline. Both companies are already collaborating on the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.

The planned series is described as the studio’s “biggest TV project to date”. Rawson Marshall Thurber (Red Notice) is writing and directing the pilot. There is also talk of a possible “universe” with several series.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is scheduled to hit German cinemas on March 30, 2023. The film also stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez and Hugh Grant, among others.

Apart from that, various D&D games are also in development. Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 is slated to leave Early Access this year, and in-house studio Invoke Studios is working on a new triple-A project.

However, Wizards of the Coast recently announced that at least five video game projects have been discontinued.
