Sergio Unac, Governor of San Juan

In an election in which it was not possible to vote for governor and vice president, categories that are suspended due to a ruling by the Supreme Court of Justice, the Peronism of San Juan won almost the entire province, but lost the mayor of the capital, which was left in the hands of Together for Change.

In that city, the Cambia San Juan front prevailed with more than 56% of the votes, adding up all the sublemmas of that space, of which the one that came out first was the one led by the candidate Susana Laciarwho thus became the next local president.

Far behind, with 34% of the votes, was San Juan por Todos, which among its main leaders nominated the current community chief, Emilio Baistrocchiwho was the most voted within the official internal party, but was far from getting re-elected.

However, this is a postcard that was not repeated in other parts of the province, where this Sunday Peronism achieved comfortable victories in the framework of these elections in which, in addition to 19 mayors and councilors, 19 departmental deputies and 17 by proportional representation.

This front has won in 14 or 15 departments. We have won 75% of the municipalities of San Juan. We have placed 75% of the deputies that make up the Chamber and we have won 75% of the integration of the Deliberative Council”, highlighted the governor, Sergio Unac. “We got 51% of the votes and Together for Change only 35 or 36%,” emphasized the provincial president.

Uñac, who had announced his intentions to go for a new management period, could not appear because the opposition filed a complaint against his candidacy, understanding that he was not qualified to compete again, which led to a ruling by the Court that suspended the elections for that category.

“The ruling has been suspicious, extemporaneous, it is a precautionary measure that has been notified to different representatives, except the aforementioned, who is the one who speaks. They have to notify the candidate for governor and vice. Obviously, they have twisted a lot of things, but not the will of the people of San Juan, which has been expressed in a percentage greater than 75%, there being no candidates for governor and vice president,” Uñac said during a press conference that he gave upon learning of the first results.

In Greater San Juan, Justicialism won Rawson with Carlos Munisaga and Chimbas with grace rodriguezwhile in the most populated departments, the ruling party won in Pocito with Fabio AballaySaucete with Romina Rosas and Iglesia, the mining capital, with George Mirror.

Albardón, Angaco and Sarmiento still remained to be defined, while in the smaller districts, such as Zonda, San Martín, Ullum, Valle Fértil, Calingasta and Jáchal, the victory went to the Frente de Todos.

For JxC, the two departments that he has governed for more than 10 years remained, Rivadavia with Sergio Miodowsky and Saint Lucia with Juan Jose Orrego.

“It is a pity that whoever could go to sleep as elected governor, cannot do so. We are leaving with 14 or 15 departments won, so the question is, when elections are called and this state of uncertainty continues, a governor who does not represent this front, how is he going to balance a province that has expressed a majority option? A confession from one party, relief of evidence. The Court has mistreated the people of San Juan”, Uñac closed.
