Elections in the Basque Country, live: the man arrested for spraying Pradales with pepper spray is released

Pradales distrusts Pedro Sánchez and a possible pact with Bildu

The Lehendakari candidate for the PNV, Imanol Pradalesbets, in an interview published today by the newspaper El País, on reaching an agreement with the PSE again, but distrusts the “temptations” of the president of the Government and general secretary of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, to do so with EH Bildu.

Pradales considers that the sovereignty debate is not in the public debate and adds that the Basque Country “has experienced ETA’s terrorism with so much tension that in this hangover phase it has lowered that drive.

However, he maintains that there is a clear majority that supports the Gernika Statute. “Others bet on the breakup and now have come to the PNV positions. I welcome Bildu and the PP to the statutory consensus.”

The candidate believes that voters will choose this Sunday between two “antagonistic” visions, the PNV and EH Bildu, and He does not believe that he can agree with the latter party except on issues such as self-government.

In this sense, the nationalist candidate for lehendakari highlights the differences between PNV and EH Bildu and argues that, while the latter, in economic matters, propose direct intervention and its control, His party defends a framework of public-private collaboration.
