The death of the young ‘influencer’ Elena Huelva has left enormous pain in her hundreds of thousands of followers.

Diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma at the age of 16, since then she had used the networks to make this rare disease visible, thus becoming a source of inspiration and hope for many people. The legacy of hers ‘willing to win’ will remain forever immortalized on the internet, along with that of other personalities who, with their optimism and joy of living, raise awareness every day about prevention and the need to maintain hope.

Since that same year, 2019, he began to recount his day-to-day life on social networks, where he reaches hundreds of thousands of followers (he has more than 800,000 on Instagram alone), making his motto go viral: ‘My desire wins’.
After undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments from the moment of diagnosis, after just over a year, he was cured. However, after a few months he relapsed with lung metastases, something very common in this disease. After trying various chemotherapy treatments to see if any worked, in September 2021 they found one that did work.
Life is sometimes tremendously unfair and makes people suffer in a very cruel way. Despite that, you knew how to offer us the best part of yourself, and give us this life lesson of incalculable value.

As she herself recounted on her Instagram profile, in that year she was able to “do many things”. “I even wrote my story, turning it into a book,” said Huelva, referring to ‘My desire wins. No one has promised us a tomorrow, live in the present’ (Penguin Random House), a title in which she recounts her personal experience with the disease.

However, a year later, in the summer of 2022, they told him that the treatment had stopped working. “The disease had grown in another place besides the lungs,” she explained on social networks. That same day she started a new chemotherapy.
A few months later, on December 4, the young woman published a video in which she reported her worsening. “Things are not going well. They have found more disease in my trachea, which is very dangerous. As you know, it is where we breathe, and I do not need to say much more,” she expressed. The video took just a few minutes to go viral.
