JHere is the order of performances for the final of the 67th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, which takes place next Saturday, May 13th. According to the information revealed, at the end of Thursday night, Mimicat, who will represent Portugal with ‘Ai Coração’, will be the second to take the stage.

After this week’s semifinals, held on Tuesday and Thursday, the qualified countries were drawn to distribute performances between the first and second half of the final. The Portuguese singer, who qualified on Tuesday, was in the first part of the event.

After knowing all 26 countries that will go to the final, the organization distributed the performances and placed Portugal in 2nd place, between Austria and Switzerland.

Poland, Serbia, France, Cyprus, Spain, Sweden, Albania, Italy and Estonia will also play in the first part. Closing is Finland.

The Czech Republic will be responsible for opening the second part of the festival, followed by Australia, Belgium, Armenia, Moldova, Ukraine, Norway, Germany, Lithuania, Israel, Slovenia, Croatia and the United Kingdom.

After qualifying for the final, Portugal has fluctuated between the 24th and 25th position (out of a total of 26 countries) in the main bookmakers, according to the website eurovisionworld. Behind are only Albania and Lithuania.

It should be noted that the bettors were correct in all ten finalists in the first semifinal and in nine in the second.

The ‘Curse of Number 2’

Mimicat’s place may be related to the bad luck that the countries that act in the first places have had in recent years. There is even a theory among Eurofans, the so-called ‘Curse of Number 2’. This is because no country that acted in the second position managed to win the contest.

The best result of a country in second place belongs to the Netherlands, which, in 1958, was in 9th position with Corry Brokken and ‘Heel de Wereld’. But also the third edition of the Eurovision Song Contest had only 10 participants.

However, Portugal was also among the first to play in last year’s edition. MARO, with ‘Saudade, Saudade’, was the third to take the stage and managed to enter the TOP10, reaching 9th position.

Remember that the Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra won the 66th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. The theme ‘Stefania’ collected a total of 631 votes, combined between jury and public votes. However, due to the Russian invasion, it was announced that the United Kingdom – the runners-up – would host this year’s edition.
