The state administrator started supervision of the psychiatrist on 9 January this year following allegations from author Hilde Rød-Larsen that he abused his role as a doctor to have sex with her in 1999 and 2000.
At the same time, it was decided to reopen a complaint against the psychiatrist about sexually abusive behavior towards a minor patient 20 years ago.
The psychiatrist has denied these allegations through his lawyer Halvard Helle.
The inspection also includes two warnings about missing frameworks for the treatment, the lack of record keeping and harmful personalization of the treatment. The psychiatrist has been given the opportunity to answer this to the supervisory authority.
Now the State Administrator states in a press release that they have found reason to also investigate the psychiatrist’s requisition of addictive drugs. This happens on the basis of oral information they have received.
Amphetamine for ADHD
Documents TV 2 has seen show that the psychiatrist has had permission to prescribe and use central stimulants in the treatment of children, young people and adult patients with ADHD and narcolepsy since 2005.
The permits include the right to requisition preparations such as amphetamines, and other agents used in the treatment of people with ADHD and narcolepsy.
– He is a doctor, so it is correct that he has the right to prescribe the medicines, but there is nothing to note about his practice, so this is taken into account, says the psychiatrist’s lawyer Halvard Helle to TV 2.
Helle believes it is reprehensible that the State Administrator sent out the press release just five minutes after they notified him that it was coming.
– It is sensational and contrary to good administrative practice, says Helle.
Have asked the pharmacy for data
The state administrator has obtained prescription statistics by asking selected pharmacies to submit prescription data for drug groups A and B.
– Once we have received prescription data from all the pharmacies, we will review these and assess whether further supervisory follow-up is necessary, the press release states.
No further information is given about the background to why the State Administrator has found reason to investigate the psychiatrist’s requisitioning practice.
