Yvonne Hagberg got a biogas car because it is an environmentally friendly alternative.

– When I bought it, I refueled for SEK 18 a kilo, now the price is SEK 37. We are environmentally friendly, but we are severely punished, she says.

In the past, it was economically advantageous to refuel with biogas, but that is no longer the case. A kilo price of SEK 37 corresponds to a petrol liter price of over SEK 28.

In the clip, you get to meet some who fill up with biogas at a station in Lund and who react to the price increases and the differences in the country.

Mind map reveals price differences

A facebook group for committed biogas car owners has put together a map with costs for biogas around Sweden.

– The prices vary incredibly much and it depends entirely on who is the supplier. In Skåne and Gothenburg, you are hit hard because there are large players who have bought up the supermarkets and who act on the global market for gas. It used to be cheaper to fill up in Skåne, but now the small local suppliers are the cheapest, says Jenny Rydhammer, who is an administrator in the group.

Why are the price differences so big? In the clip below, SVT’s reporter Johanna Holstein explains:
