Mexico City.- The Faculty of Higher Studies (FES) Aragón summoned the Minister Yasmín Esquivel to testify about the alleged plagiarism of the degree thesis of which she was accused by the academic and writer Guillermo Sheridan.

Through a communication posted on its website, the school also urged the others involved: the advisor, Martha Rodríguez; the former student whose work was copied, Edgar Ulises Báez Gutiérrez; as well as the jurors who participated in the titling process, to give their testimony no later than December 29.

“To the university people of this house of studies, who participated as authors, juries or advisers, in the two professional theses dated July 1986 and September 1987, which were announced in recent days and involving a former student of the Faculty of Higher Studies Aragon and a former student of the Faculty of Law, they are invited to express what their interest corresponds to,” he said.

The purpose of requiring the testimony of those involved, said the FES, is so that the Academic and Scientific Integrity Committee that reviews the case considers them in its analysis.

On December 21, Sheridan accused Esquivel of having plagiarized the thesis with which she obtained a law degree in 1987 at the then National School of Professional Studies (ENEP) Aragón.

His work is an almost identical copy of a thesis presented a year earlier by Báez Gutiérrez and both had Rodríguez as their thesis advisor.
