Argentine midfielder Facundo Buonanotte today took away for just 11 days the record held by his compatriot Alejandro Garnacho as the youngest Argentine footballer to score a goal in the Premier League.

The former Rosario Central player started for the first time in his team’s away match, Brighton, against Nottingham Forest, on date 33 of the Premier League, and he undoubtedly took advantage of the occasion. The native of Santa Fe scored his first goal with the “Las Gaviotas” shirt 38 minutes into the first half by taking advantage of a rebound from Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas.

Despite the goal from the Argentine, the team led by Roberto De Zerbi, who also had the presence of world champion Alexis Mac Allister, could not sustain the result and ended up falling 3-1 with goals from Pascal Grob against, Danilo and Morgan Gibbs-White from penalty.

With this annotation, Buonanotte, summoned in the previous list of 37 members by Javier Mascherano for the U-20 World Cup in Argentina, established a record, since with 18 years and 124 days of age (he was born on December 23, 2004 in the town of Pérez in Santa Fe) became the youngest Argentine soccer player in history to score a goal in the tournament. The brand was held by Alejandro Garnacho, who in November had set the record at 18 years and 135 days.
