Robert Lewandowski, Mats Hummels and Mario Götze are probably the best-known examples of the last ten years. They all switched from Borussia Dortmund to FC Bayern Munich. BVB fans in particular repeatedly raised the accusation that the German record champions would weakly buy their direct competitor.
In recent years, however, the changes between Dortmund and Bayern have decreased, the allegations have become fewer – at least at player level. Nevertheless, the current personnel planning of Munich could now lead to problems.
Renewed tensions with BVB?
As reported by “Kicker”, Bayern are “intensively” involved with Martin Siegbert and he is, of all things, a scout at Borussia Dortmund. The 39-year-old holder of the A license has been working as a scout for the Black and Yellows since 2021 and previously held the same position at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and 1. FC Köln. In addition, in 2006 he worked for a few months as coach of today’s third division team Viktoria Köln.

If the record champions strike BVB again, this could cause new tensions. Bayern Dortmund’s then chief scout Markus Pilawa was only persuaded last summer to pray for his contract, which ran until 2023, to be released.
BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl then released Pilawa from his duties. Then there was talk in the media about a breach of trust between the two and that Kehl wanted to change Dortmund’s transfer policy. In return, however, Bayern’s scouting team leader at the time switched to BVB.

Meanwhile, according to “Kicker”, FC Bayern is also progressing with squad planning. Two sales candidates have emerged: Serge Gnabry and Sadio Mané. The club bosses should not be satisfied with either. According to the “Kicker”, however, Gnabry “does not think at all” of leaving FC Bayern in the summer.

Rather, he is looking forward to the new season with Thomas Tuchel as head coach, with whom he is in regular contact. Gnabry’s recent appointments to the starting XI can also be seen as a positive sign from Tuchel to his attacker. The Bayern coach recently admitted that Gnabry was “a step ahead” compared to competitor Leroy Sané.
However, high income would be important for Munich, since the club bosses around Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidžić would like to sign a top striker. However, this requires money that could bring a departure from Gnabry (market value: 55 million euros).
