Julián Araujo will not be able to join FC Barcelona. A FIFA spokesman confirmed to ‘ESPN’: “FIFA can confirm that the transfer of player Julián Araujo from LA Galaxy to FC Barcelona was not completed in accordance with the applicable regulations.” So the 21-year-old Mexico international will remain in California at least until the summer transfer window.

Barça wanted to sign the right-back on the previous deadline day. However, due to a technical error, the transfer was processed 18 seconds after the deadline. The Catalans were still hoping that FIFA would turn a blind eye. “It was 18 seconds. I don’t know what FIFA will do”explained Barça sporting director Mateu Alemany.
