It’s been three years since Ansu Fati set new records at FC Barcelona almost every week. The youngest goalscorer in the club’s history, the youngest goalscorer in the Champions League and the Spanish national team – the Catalans’ homegrown team has had a meteoric rise. Fati even inherited the shirt number of Lionel Messi after his departure.
But now the 20-year-old is showing great frustration. In Barcelona, the skills of the left winger are in less and less demand. Although Fati has been on the pitch in 30 competitive games this season, the seven-time national player rarely plays more than 30 minutes per game on average. In the league, Fati was only allowed to play seven of his 19 appearances in Xavi’s starting lineup.
