Cancun, QRoo.- This Monday, May 8, during the morning conference of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, it was announced that the next July 8 will be delivered in Cancun of the first convoy of the Mayan Train to immediately start rolling tests.

“Sir, we are at May 8, the train arrives on July 8, two months we will be receiving the first train in the Cancun area. We appreciate the support of everyone involved; the tables are being established to work on the transfer and reception of the train. Each box weighs more than 50 tons, plus the cabin; it has to be carried on large platforms to move it more than 1,500 kilometers. Alstom’s board of directors explained that the mere transportation of the convoy represents a challenge, since each wagon box weighs more than 50 tons, plus the cabin, so “the transfer will be a great event that keeps us all busy.”

He announced that the tests of the Mayan Train will be static and dynamic, through a system called HealthHub, which consists of monitoring the entire train and sending 200 signals every 30 seconds that will allow detecting if there is any malfunction.

For his part, Guadalupe Phillips Margain the representative of ICAreported that section 4 of the Mayan Train that runs from Izamal to Cancun is already 90% complete and will be ready in July of this year to begin rolling tests and be inaugurated in December of this year.

The ICA executive also detailed that the progress of works and whereabouts is 57.4%; 90% on platforms; 81% technical rooms; 42% equipment and 36% civil works and facilities.

Finally, the director of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), reported that as of May 8, 2023, the following have been registered and preserved: 4,228 real estate (foundations, albarradas, foundations, etc.); 570 personal property (Ceramics, metates); 42 thousand 617 ceramic utensils analyzed; 16 burials and 100 associated natural features (caves, cenotes).
