To the complaints for indiscriminate pruning in La Plata now are added those referring to interventions outside the winter season in Barrio Hipódromo and Plaza Brandsen.
In one case, the neighbors put the focus on chainsaws running yesterday on a sidewalk at diagonal 80 and 116. According to the statements that this newspaper collected in the area, the tasks were in charge of a team of workers from the Municipality.
It is noted that the tasks are carried out outside the autumn and winter period in which, at the request of specialists, this type of intervention is established on the City’s plants.
In the same sense they complained in the neighborhood adjacent to Plaza Brandsen.
“They came with trucks from the Municipality”, it was pointed out in that neighborhood about the cuts applied to the foliage of various plants in the area of diagonal 75 between 59 and 60.
On the block they waited for the operators beforehand: “The order was made in 2022,” said a front operator who communicated with this newspaper, alluding to the expectation of intervention within the winter period.
To these is added a new proposal for the deterioration of the trees in Parque Saavedra. “Almost every day a tree falls in Parque Saavedra. Although they are old, they are not careful, they lack fumigation, and on the other hand there is no reforestation,” said Susana Aceto, a neighbor of the area.

The Forum in Defense of the Tree took a critical look at the planting of palm trees that took place in different parts of the City. Although it was highlighted that in some sectors, combined with other species, they could contribute to the landscape and to the hygiene criteria that inspired urban design and the choice of trees.
