On March 25, 2022, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins was found dead in a hotel room while the band was on tour in South America.
Hawkins lived to be 50 years old.
Following the death, the band has only performed twice, then in connection with Hawkins’ memorial concerts in London and Los Angeles in September.
Paying tribute to the bandmate
On New Year’s Eve, the band announced on their official Twitter account that they will continue without Hawkins.
– As we now say goodbye to the heaviest and most tragic year the band has ever experienced, we are reminded of how grateful we are for the people we love and appreciate, and for our loved ones who are no longer with us, they start the post with .
Furthermore, they pay tribute to Hawkins and talk about how much he has meant to the band.
– Without Taylor we would never have become the band we were – and without Taylor we know that we will become a different band in the future.
The post ends with a promise that the band will soon be seen on stage again.
– We also know that you, the fans, meant as much to Taylor as he did to you, and we know that when we see you again – and we will soon – he will be there in spirit with all of us every night.

Left behind a wife and three children
Born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1972, Hawkins moved to California with his family as a child. He broke through as a touring drummer for Alanis Morissette, and joined the Foo Fighters in 1997, according to the American culture magazine Rolling Stone.
A few days after the death, Colombian authorities announced that ten different types of drugs had been found in the body of the drummer after his death, according to the newspaper El Espectador.
Hawkins is survived by his wife of 17 years, Alison Hawkins, and their three children, Everleigh, Oliver Shane and Annabelle.
