It’s a little phrase that is disturbing to say the least, if not worrying. Saturday evening, when he presented his wishes to the French, during one of the rare passages of his televised address devoted to the climate, Emmanuel Macron made all those who are interested in the ecological question jump.

Recalling the wishes he had presented to the French a year earlier, he wished to underline that the year which has just ended had been the scene of events impossible to foresee: the attack on Ukraine by the Russia, the energy crisis and soaring inflation. And, carried away in its tracks, it added summer and autumn heat waves to the list of surprises for 2022, with this unexpected formula:

“Who could have predicted the climate crisis? » One would want to believe in the slip, as the formula does not correspond to any reality. At one of those road exits to which the Head of State has accustomed us – “Cross the street to find work”, “successful people and nothing people”, “the refractory Gauls”, etc. But, in this case, it is a recorded intervention and therefore read and reread carefully. The formula has therefore been thought out and validated, and moreover, it is found in the written version of the vows posted on the Ely website
