Ford recalls almost half a million cars due to serious problem

NEW YORK– The American car manufacturer Ford called to review almost half a million vehicles affected by a battery charge control failure, which could cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

Some 456,565 units of the Bronco Sport and Maverick models, SUV and pick-up respectively, are affected, according to the announcement made on Wednesday by the US Highway Safety Agency (NHTSA).

The Broncos with this defect were built between 2021 and 2024 and the Mavericks between 2022 and 2023.

The solution consists of adjusting the battery control module, said the manufacturer, which will proceed with the correction at the brand’s dealerships.

American automaker Ford beat profit expectations in the fourth quarter of 2023 and expects higher profits this year despite rising labor costs in its electric vehicle segment, according to a financial report published this Tuesday.

The company reported fourth-quarter adjusted earnings per share of 29 cents, above analyst estimates, while revenue reached $46 billion in the period.

By 2024, Ford expects profits of between $10 billion and $12 billion before interest and taxes, up from $10.4 billion reported in 2023.
