In Formula 1 it now seems to be the norm that almost every team has a long, almost unpronounceable name. Many sponsors insist that their company is also mentioned in the team name. This is how monstrous words like Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant F1 Team or Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport are born.

Mick Schumacher’s former team Haas, on the other hand, started with a relatively simple name last season: Haas F1 Team. This was also due to the fact that the American racing team had to spontaneously reschedule before the start of the season.

F1: Schumacher’s team had to say goodbye to Russian sponsor

Because Russia invaded Ukraine in February, Haas had to part with Russia’s main lender, the fertilizer company Uralkali.

In addition, the racing team kicked out its Russian driver Nikita Mazepin, whose father is the boss of Uralkali and a confidante of Putin. The car, which was partially painted in the Russian national colors, also had to be redesigned.

After a season without another title sponsor, Haas has now pulled a new name and logo out of the hat.

Haas will compete under the MoneyGram Haas F1 Team name in 2023. The racing team officially announced this on Wednesday. The cooperation with the US financial company is also reflected in the new logo, which was unveiled on Twitter.

This news comes as no surprise to many F1 fans. Because Team boss Günther Steiner had already announced in October 2022 that the racing team had agreed on a long-term cooperation with “Moneygram”.

“Our fans demand speed and we deliver it. Just like Moneygram does for its customers,” said Steiner in the advertising speech at the time. A multi-year contract was agreed with “Moneygram,” Haas said in a statement.

Formula 1 relies on the USA as the market of the future

Formula 1 should also like the fact that the US company could be won as the new main sponsor. The USA is considered to be the market with the greatest growth potential for the pinnacle of motorsport.

The racing series has been consistently expanding in the United States for years. Also fueled by the great success of the Netflix series “Drive to Survive”, Formula 1 is currently experiencing an unprecedented boom in the USA. To fuel this hype, three races will be held there in 2023: in Austin, Miami and, for the first time, in Las Vegas.
