The Road to Fame
Franziska Weisz was born in Vienna and grew up in the Vienna Woods. As a child, she enjoyed films by Italian icon Sophia Loren. So the desire for an acting career arose.
And that’s how it should be: she was discovered by the Austrian director Ulrich Seidl! Her debut took place in his film “Dog Days”. A true natural talent!
But instead of putting everything on this card, Franziska first enrolled at the University of Vienna. Your choice of degree: Business Administration. She then moved to Leicester, UK, where she studied International Relations and Media. She ultimately completed her education in London, with a Master’s degree in Development and Environmental Protection.
She also took on various roles during her studies. And because it went so well, the decision was made: Acting, Franziska will make a career out of it!
After England it was said: off to Berlin! Here the young actress moved from apartment to apartment, district by district. Because she often walked, the native of Vienna knows the city very well. Moving to a quieter place? Out of the question for Franziska!
Berlin was quick to love them back: in 2005, Franziska won the Rising Star Award at the Berlinale for the film Hotel. The actress’ films have been nominated several times for the Berlin Film Prize: in 2010 the film “Der Räuber”, in 2014 “Kreuzweg”.
The natural talent was also regularly seen on television. She acted in many crime novels until 2016, when she received Germany’s greatest crime honor: Crime scene. She has embodied the since 2016 Crime scene commissioner Grosz alongside Wotan Wilke Möhring as Thorsten Falke, who together make Hamburg safe.
private life
Born in Vienna, she has been married to film director Felix Herzogenrath since 2015. They met three years earlier while filming the series “Die Bergretter”.
Franziska has been a committed vegetarian since 1993. So long before the trend! She campaigns for animal rights and environmental protection as an ambassador for the World Wildlife Fund. You can meet the beautiful Austrian at animal welfare demos all over Germany.
