After the FritzBox 7590 and the first WLAN repeaters were supplied with the FritzOS 7.50 update last year, the Berlin IT company promised to continue with the rollout in January. Now owners of the FritzBox 7530 can initiate the update. Either via the browser interface (fritz.box) of the router or manually using the official Image file from AVM FTP.
The innovations are extensive, like those published today Patch Notes of the FritzBox 7530. AVM claims to have imported more than 150 improvements. The focus is primarily on new features for the WiFi mesh and VPN connectivity via the WireGuard protocol. In addition, one wants to improve the convenience of telephoning and put the smart home properties in a better light. The table below shows that AVM will deliver the new FritzOS 7.50 for a large number of FritzBoxes. For example, for the cable Internet flagships FritzBox 6690 and 6591 Cable, but also for older models such as the FritzBox 6490 (cable) and FritzBox 7490 (DSL). Various entry-level models are also considered.
A precise schedule is not available. However, the distribution should take several weeks, if not months.
