The Regulatory Body of the National Airport System ordered a new increase in the airport use rate, which will directly impact the final value of domestic flights.

The board of directors resolved to approve the application values for the Cabotage Aerostation Use Fee (TUA), applicable to all airports that make up the SNA (National Airport System). It did so through resolution 98, published in the Official Gazette.

Article 3 of the resolution provided that “the indicated fare variation applies to air ticket tickets issued from the date of the date and to be used after forty calendar days from said date.”

The increase translates into 79% more than the previous rate. In other words, the rate will increase from $614 to $1,100 per passenger boarded, as indicated in the annex that accompanies the resolution.

The measure exceeds the following airports: “Almirante Zar” of Trelew (Chubut), “Comandante Espora” of Bahía Blanca (Buenos Aires Province), “El Calafate” (Santa Cruz) “Malvinas Argentinas” of Ushuaia (Tierra del Fuego) ) and “President Perón” (Neuquén).

The aforementioned increase corresponds to category I airports. For category II airports, the increase will go to $767, while for those that make up the category III list it will amount to $672.

Argentina or abroad: what do Argentines prefer?

All travel and tourism companies agree that, in the searches and the choices that Argentines made for Christmas and New Year’s Eve, the choice to travel abroad is imposed.

“In our case, the demand is more focused on the international. There is more or less a proportion of 70-30 between the international and the national”, warned Magalí Álvarez Howlin, Marketing Manager of Volalá.

In Despegar, Turismo City and Volalá confirmed to TN that Rio de Janeiro is the destination most chosen by Argentines to spend the Christmas holidays and, above all, New Years. Then, among the options, Madrid, Florianópolis, Punta Cana, Cancun and Miami appear.

“The short one-week lines that reach Rio are relatively cheap, they have all inclusive and can be prepaid,” said Emiliano Álvarez, CEO of a travel agency. From the platform they revealed that, to the typical trip to Rio de Janeiro, they added “people who go to Brazil, but look for apartments instead of hotels.”

“The ranking of best-selling national destinations for the 2023 summer season is headed by Bariloche, followed by Iguazú, Salta, Mendoza and Córdoba, in that order,” confirmed Alejandro Herrasti, Despegar’s air leader for Argentina and Uruguay.
