gasoline reaches the lowest price in two years

MIAMI.- Christmas comes a week early for Florida motorists, who pay an average of $2.68 per gallon for gasoline, the lowest price in the last two years, according to AAA.

Florida gas prices have fallen an average of 31 cents over the past 17 days.

“Pump prices are falling at the perfect time, as more than 6 million Floridians prepare to take a road trip during the holiday season,” said AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins.

Domestic gasoline supplies and low oil prices are important factors in this downward trend, Jenkins added.

“The best news of all? This trend is expected to continue through the holidays.”

As of this Sunday, December 17, 88% of gas stations in the Sunshine State sell at a price of less than $3 per gallon. Even at 33% of gas stations, the price does not exceed $2.75 per gallon.

The most expensive places to fill up in Florida are West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, Naples and Homosassa Springs, where prices range from $2.99 to $3.09.

While you can fill up cheaper in Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Orlando and Pensacola, with prices around $2.73.
