Google has announced that it will provide Chromebooks with updates for 10 years.

ChromeOS is Google’s operating system for inexpensive laptops that are particularly intended for the educational sector. The first models were launched in 2012.

Updates for a long time

It is now announced that all devices will be provided with automatic updates for at least 10 years. The focus is particularly on the issue of security.

Update guarantee applies retroactively

The update guarantee applies from 2024 to all Chromebooks released since 2021. Older devices can also be set to this, although features can be deleted.
